Q:  Ummm...What is a handyman?  Are you a contractor?  An electrician?  A plumber?

A:  handyman, also known as a fixer, handyperson, or handy worker, is a person skilled at a wide range of repairs, typically around the home. These tasks include trade skills, repair work, maintenance work, are both interior and exterior, and are sometimes described as "side work", "odd jobs" or "fix-up tasks". These jobs could be light plumbing jobs such as fixing a leaky toilet or light electric jobs such as changing a light fixture or bulb, but a handyman is not a plumber or electrician unless they are licensed by the state.

Q:  I’m a registered (or unregistered) handyman in Weber County and am interested in working for LIberty Rural Services. Are you hiring?
A:  Everyone needs a hand from time-to-time so we are always open to networking with qualified professional craftsmen to deliver our services.

Q:  What makes you different from a contractor?

A:  I believe that what is important to you should be important to us.  So, we will not start working with you only to be offered a more lucrative opportunity elsewhere and become unresponsive or just never come back.  Typically a general contractor sub-contracts out all the work. We do it ourselves and stake our reputation on it.

Q:  Which services do you provide (or not provide)?

A:  My goal is to provide as many services as possible.  Unfortunately, the reality is that we can't do everything....yet. However, we do most things and there are only a few things we don't do.  Also, there are a few things we cannot do. But I might be able to set you up with someone I trust.

Q:  Do you have a minimum fee?

A:  Yes, we do require a $50 minimum for any repair call, and this does not include the cost of materials.

Q:  What are your prices?

A:  Every project is different.  An estimate will give you the most accurate price.  By looking at our our price structure for the most common services and the supplemental pricing guide, you can get a sense of what a project might cost.

Q:  How can I pay?

A:  We accept most forms of payment including cash, check, Venmo, CashApp, or PayPal & card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover) on our site when you create an account.

Q:  Do you install smart home features?

A:  Yes I am pretty handy installing Google Nest, Ring, and other smart home devices i.e. doorbells, cameras, and thermostats.

Q:  Do I need to supply the materials?

A:  This is up to you, but most of our clients ask us to handle the entire project for you and an estimate that includes labor, materials, and disposal fees in order to complete your project.

Q:  Do guarantee your work?

A:  Yes, I offer a 30-day guarantee on workmanship.  Materials purchased by me or supplied by you are covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

Q:  Should you tip a handyman?

A:  Tipping is not expected, nor is it calculated into your bill. I will charge an hourly rate that compensates me for my time, labor, and supplies used in the job.

Q:  What kind of Home Improvements or Property Maintenance Require Permits?

A:  It depends on the task and where you live.  Minor replacement or repair of existing electrical, gas, mechanical, or plumbing systems, especially to replace like-kind (ie. replace a water faucet, light switch, light fixture, toilet, etc.), replacement of roof shingles or siding does not require a permit.  Huntsville Home and property owners should check with local officials for confirmation.  If you live in an unincorporated area, check with Weber County Officials.
